I'm trying to gauge how much lift I'd get up front from installing 1/4 inch top plate spacers on the driver's and passenger's sides. I see different answers given by different vendors: some say it'll provide 1/2 inch lift, others say 3/8 inch, some just say anywhere between 1/4 and 1/2 inch.

Does the lift provided from these spacers really vary that much from truck to truck, or is there a definitive answer?

    I'm 2wd on 6112 6/5 1/4" top plate on both sides. Measured 35" pre-lift, 39" post-lift. Its only been 3 days, i hope it settles at least 1/2".

Not exactly what you're looking for, but thats my scenario.

Attached is drivers side. Passenger is a hair lower.

Thanks, appreciate the reply. I'm running Bilstein 5100s set at the 4th notch up front for a 1.5 inch lift, and trying to get closer to 2 inches. I know I could do that by going to the 5th notch but the ride will be rough, so considering the 1/4 inch top plate spacers as an alternative to get a little extra lift. It's just not clear what actual extra lift I'll get, guess it could be variable truck to truck.

1/4” spacer should give you a 1/2” of added height

Thanks. That's what Headstrong says on their website for the 1/4 inch spacer. I had also seen Wheeler's on their site saying it'll only give 3/8 inch. I realize these are tiny differences but just trying to get a better handle on it.

It’s really subjective in a lot of ways. Measuring when not in the exact same spot or the difference in 1/4 tank of gas will make a difference in before and after measurements. Even if you split the difference between the 2 opinions that’s only 1/16”.

Great points. I'm not going to worry much about it, I'll just assume it'll get me close to 2 inches total up front with the Bilsteins at the 4th notch, maybe slightly less than that.

I wish it was that easy for me. I’m super particular and I’ve always tried to set my trucks up to where the drivers side was 1/8” higher than the passenger. Of course this was done with 1/2 tank of gas. Coilovers are are godsend and a curse at the same time.

Why not just put the correct springs in? They are ~ $200 and it will ride better. Put the drivers side lean spacer while you are in there to level it side to side. Just a thought if you are going to mess with it again, do it right.

You're not wrong about the correct spring being better, but there's nothing wrong with a 1/4" spacer above the top hat as long as the bump stop is operating as intended, and no difference whatsoever in ride quality. It's simply spacing the entire assembly down one quarter of an inch. I challenge anyone to tell the difference in ride quality between a Tacoma with a 1/4" top hat spacer installed and one at same ride height, without. Like the Pepsi vs Coke challenge. :)

Yes that's exactly what I'm looking for, getting a little extra height up front without changing the ride quality. I'm fairly certain I'd notice the change in ride on the Bilsteins going from 4th notch to 5th so trying to avoid that.

Totally agree with your point here. But the ride is already compromised running the spring on the 4th notch. If he's happy enough with it, then yeah, spacers will get him the extra 1/2" without further compromise.

Is it a risk factor to offroad by adding a quarter inch spacer
