Any experts that know there are major differences between an 09 double cab vs. 06 access cab frames?
I acquired an 06 that has frame issues and now out of the coverage because the paint was enough for it not to show perforations in the 12 yr timeframe. Well the 06 frame is on national backorder. Dealer has an 09 dc frame coming in that a guy was all set up to get the replacement done on his and turned around and sold his truck to a carmax type place. I'm wondering how different the two frames would be? The part numbers are obviously different.

I honestly don’t know the difference.

But the cab and bed mounts are probably different.
AC the cab is shorter, DC is longer. Just as the bed lengths would be also.

Again, I don’t know the answer.
My guess is, it won’t work.

Yea if its just mounts, it's not to difficult to move the body and/or bed mounts around. Hoping a tech who has experience with both can chime in here.

@Bishop84 is a tech. Maybe he’s done a frame on both to know?

ACLB and DCSB bolt on sliders work for 05-15.. so something is similar. Might be exhaust hangers, and cab mounts. Not sure what else

That would be easy enough. Are the fuel capacities the same DC vs AC spanning those years?

Fuel capacity is all the same between the different models, here are the PNs for different frames. I have to imagine the main differences are crossmember placement (auto vs. manual), and body mount locations

I only bring this up because the X-Runner frame that I am going to swap to.. had a little bit of front end damage. I took it to a body shop that does frame work and they were able to weld on a new front support and check out the rest of the frame. When I got in the truck to drive home I noticed this document.2006.jpg

I went back into the body shop and asked them about this document and he told me that the extended cab and 4dr share the exact same mounting positions and reference points. He also told me that the rear cab body mounts are pushed all the way back on the access cab and the 4 door cab has the rear cab mounts under the rear doors and not pushed all the way back. I didn't verify this because I was focused on comparing a pre-runner access cab frame to a x-runner accesss cab frame. I asked him to print out one of these documents for my pre-runner and the same thing applied.2014.jpg

You can look at my thread and also see that I spent over 8 hours one Saturday doing a plum drop drawing of my 2014 Pre-Runner Access cab Tacoma and over 8 hours the next day doing a plum drawing of the 2006 X-Runner Access cab Tacoma frame to see how similar or different they were before I got too deep into this project. Then I cut out the drawing and laid them onto each other and noticed that the 6 body mounts for the cab were within and 1/8 of inch from each other. I don't know how helpful this information is for you but at least wanted to share it.. to maybe help you out.

Yes DC is double cab and AC is access cab. Crew cab and extended cab are chevy/ford terms I think LOL
