I need to know if a 16 front clip will fit on 05 Tacoma?

You can do the front end conversion to upgrade to the 2012-'15 but I haven't seen one for a 3rd gen front conversion. Likely be much more involved since the changes are much more drastic than '12-'15.

It’s definitely possible, and it’s been done. From memory the biggest challenge is the a-pillar having a bit of a different shape where it meets the fender as the 2016+ Tacoma has the fender sitting higher.

It’s still the same basic truck, but there is definitely welding, body work, and repainting required to do it. Not bolt-on.

McNeil Racing fiberglass has a 2005-2015 to 2016+ tacoma kit. Grill, headlights, and bumper are not included. It is also about 4” wider than oem.
But it’s $1000 and all bolt on for the hood and fenders.

There is a guy on the X-Runner Facebook group that has done a full 3rd gen conversion, making himself the only 3rd gen X-Runner out there. It is still a work in progress but it is pretty interesting looking.
There is something like a 3" difference in fender height between a 2nd and 3rd gen so the transition on the A pillar is a challenge. And I think the body line in the lower part of the door/fender area is different, even though it is in the same place is totally different.

The line is the same on the rear door, cab, and the rear 3/4’s of the front door, but different at the front of the door, is it doesn’t extend into the fender.

Little tabs/brackets are welded to the top of the fender aprons so the taller fender has somewhere to mount (a plastic piece covers the gap), and even though the bed is the same height, the box side panels again are a bit taller.

The structural shape of the truck is unchanged, there’s a lot of long extensions to meet the new larger body.
