Ive got an 03 Tacoma SR5 Crew Cab. The truck has TRD package, not sure what that consists of as far as base height. However i am in the market for new wheels, yet ive never liked the stance. The wheels sit under the fender flares, rather than extrude past them. I get the idea, its nice keeping mud off the side of the truck but I dont mind washing it.

Im not too knowledgeable about backspacing, etc. But I would like some advice about what will give me this look. NOT interested in wheel spacers, and trying to avoid lifting the truck. I will consider block lift, if I have to, but honestly like base suspension these days.

Anyone have a Taco like this? Pictures would be most helpful, and I would love to see some first gens with wide stance / no lift.

Again, just trying to accomplish this with wheel/tire combonation only. Any info would help, and as always pictures are even better. Thanks again!

If you want a stock like stance get 16x8 wheels with 0mm offset and 4.5" back spacing if you want stance move the back spacing to 3.75"

You WILL get rubbing issues on the front though with no lift if you stick the tires out with "stance"

Not a big difference between wheel spacers and wheels with 3.5" back spacing. Guys with LT rigs run wheel spacers a lot to even out the rear track width with the front if you're thinking its a liability issue. I've run them for 2 years no problems. SCS makes some nice 3.5 backspaced wheels - they're less expensive than most big brands and have a great reputation on here and they're easy to contact through the forum too.

These are my favorite model they make:

@757yotas - I do understand it would rub, I have heard you can trim out enough sometimes to stop the issue. (I am in the 757 as well. VB)

@Dalandser Those are nice wheels, and I am only opposed to spacers from what people have told me. No information of my own, just dont know enough about them. I hear BORA spacers are oooosooonice. But then I hear spacers in general could cause some issues dependent upon the truck.

Lol @puddle. Not quite. However that is really nice setup.

Will 15x10 or 16x10 rims rub just as much?

If you have to go up, to go out. I guess thats just the reality.

    10" rims? Most are 8-8.5

Im not completely opposed to it, however thats the only reason I was curious if it could be accomplished without it.

But it looks like I will have to go up a bit to get the stance I am looking for. Most likely I will; Now I just have to do some research.

    Thanks again guys.

Your stock wheels are probably 4.5" backspacing, if you go to 4" or 3.75", you will get the look you're going for. If you stick with stock size tires, you won't have too much rubbing in the front, nothing a little trimming can't fix anyway.

Do some measurements to see how far in your wheels are tucked inside your fender flares. Then add up the numbers based on the wheels you're looking at. As mentioned, your stock wheels are 16x7 w/ 4.5" BS. If you go to 8" wide with same BS, your set up will be 1" wider. If you go to 3.5" BS on a 8" wide wheel. you'll be 2" wider. For a short time I ran a 8" wide wheel with 3.75" BS on stock suspension an had a little bit of rubbing on the street when turning so be prepared for that possibility. If you need to lift it slightly to help clear, just get some 5100's for the front and install them at the middle setting (~1" lift) and you'll probably be all good. I would vote a definite no against a 10" wide wheel. IMO 8" is plenty wide even for a 12.5" wide tire.

Same concept, just a different way measuring.

BS is from back of hub mount to inner lip of wheel.
Offset is how far off the back of hub mount is from the center of the wheel.

Many wheel companies provide measurements for both
