Hey guys, how much should I expect to get my lady's 2002 Tacoma windshield repaired or replaced.

Got hit by a rock on the freeway last night, and now we have a nice 3 or 4-inch crack. It grew a little bit on the way home, too.

State Farm said it'll "be like $50, just call SafeLite"... unfortunately, they quoted us $118 for a repair with the resin. That seems a bit high, don't you guys think? There's nothing fancy in this older glass.

don't waste your money trying to repair a crack that's pretty much impossible. Tacoma windshields are not expensive just get it replaced

Hm.. yea they claim they can fix a crack up to 6-inches. However, it's on the side of the glass so they might not do it at all.

Might need a replacement. Just afraid we'll get shitty 2018-19 glass... and not nice, durable, quality glass from the factory like in 02. Ya know.

yeah aftermarket quality can be shady, mostly with benson and kyg, I find those brand to be the worst for fitment, ask for ppg or Pilkington if your worried about quality.

Even I had glass insurance with $100 ded I did not want aftermarket stuff. I paid extra for OEM (I had to wait few days for it) and paid over $500. That Toyota logo on the glass is quite expensive.
Ppg or Pilkington are often tough to get, they are good glass.

By the way all glass is not equal. I paid 240 dollars for OEM glass for 2012 4Runner (with heating element) at the same time. I guess the older car, the more expensive OEM glass is.

You can do a resin repair yourself. I'm not claiming it would be as good as a professional shop doing it, but it may be cheaper and be good enough to prevent the crack from getting bigger, and ok if it's not in the driver's view. Although, it sounds like your crack is already pretty big. I'm just mentioning it if you're tight on money.

I have ppg windshields in my tacoma and tundra. Both were under $200 installed. Safelite wanted about $100 more.
    Been happy with the ppg.
