So I like the flares for the first gen prerunner and 4x4 trucks, but my 2000 obviously doesn't have the holes in the fenders to mount them.

Is there anyone here that has installed 01-04 flares on a previous year first gen? I was thinking of just using 3m tape where the clips would normally go, and just the normal bolts inside the fender well.

Also, does anyone know he part # for the rubber trim that goes against the body? I was able to pull it intact with the flares, I'm just not sure how much longer they're good for, and may as well replace them.

    Thanks!

Or you could switch out to other fenders that do have the holes.

I would have to track down silver fenders, and that could be an expensive pain. Got the flares off a truck with front end damage ask a bad frame.

I've seen unpainted fenders go for around $50 I think. Color match paint cans cost around $10, nothing too expensive.

If I had to I could, but then I would need bedsides too. Rattlecan can come out nice, but if the 3m double sided tape works, I'd rather not have holes in my fenders lol.

4 fenders @ $60ish is $240, plus shipping, which on bedsides could be crazy expensive, plus primer, paint, etc... Could be a $500 project very quickly.

Ah, thought you meant just the front fenders. Anyhow I doubt 3m tape will last to the elements, and speed bumps etc. so good luck on that.

I realise u already have the flares, but if u come across any bushwhacker extenda fender flares they don't utilize the holes in the fender but utilize screws from the underneath lip and fasten to the wheel well. They look virtually identical to the OEM's.

Something to maybe think about....u can pry order the rubber trim pieces from them too if ya can't find any elsewhere...

Don't know what the 01-04 flares are like but if they have the lip that goes under/into the wheel well, why not just drill holes so you can bolt them on ala a 98-00 flare?

My 2004 has the front end from a '98. The driver side fender is from the '98. It was a non flared vehicle. I opted to use the non flared fender in place of any aftermarket fenders because the factory fenders are very superior to aftermarket fenders.

Because of this, I figured I was going to have to drill holes to mount the flare. I never got around to doing it. There are enough screws on the underside of the flare to hold it in place just fine. Its been like that for 25,000 miles. I doubt I'll ever drill those holes and properly mount the flare.
