“Nightshade” replaces “Limited” in Canada for 2021

I was looking to purchase a 2020 Limited right when COVID hit but decided to defer.

The dealer I have been working with showed me a document that says the Limited model will be replaced by a Nightshade model for 2021 in Canada.

From what I recall the Nightshade is equipped the same as the 2020 Limited. Grill, door handles, 18” rims, etc. are black. Black is the only interior colour (seats are leather) with 3 paint colour choices - black, magnetic grey metallic and windchill pearl.

 

Interesting. I honestly was never a fan of that brown interior.

And wtf is windchill pearl haha.

What made me decide on a 2020 Taco Limited was the standard power driver’s seat, birdseye view camera and LED headlights. Now have to be patient for a 2021 Nightshade.

I found the paint code - 089 and subsequently learned that any Toyota paint code starting with a “0” is a shade of white.

 

The lack of real colors would discourage me from going with this trim. Limiteds are pretty rare here in Canada. I actually see mostly TRD Sports on the road.

WINDCHILL PEARL...

While I really like several brown shades I have seen (the deep metallic ones), some of the lighter browns should be ID'ed as "Turd brown" as this is truly what they look like

 

I would think that now a days that trim lines allow a buyer to pretty much option their trucks any way they want ... the days of the “Limited” are well, limited. The Limited trim line was the fancy truck with all the bells and whistles like leather, extra chrome, moon roof etc. but now almost all those options are available as packages and pretty much all of the trim lines.

 

I'm interested to see if the windchill pearl is white. I traded a diamond white pearl Cadillac for my Tacoma and would have loved to have my Tacoma in pearl white. I've seen some 4R's that are pearl white and love it.

 

Same. Wanted all the features the limited had along with the extra resale value the trim package has, but hated the color so much I basically took a sport and threw all the options at it minus the baby shit colored leather and the JBL audio.

The audio was just a speaker replacement away for being leaps and bounds better than the JBL anyway, and I burned my legs, ass, and back enough on the leather in my old 2006 GTO that I said I would never get leather again and that color kept me to my promise.

 

Some other changes WRT model availability that already happened in the Canadian market (2019 to 2020) -

No more 4cyl in any model/trim. No 2WD avail at all.

AC made avail in SR as well as SR5 and OR (all V6 4X4).

DCLB made avail in SR and SR5 trim as well as Sport.

This is probably old news to most, but I was just digging around on the Toyota.ca build and price web page..
