Looks like I posted on a comedy channel. I posted a comment on my Tacoma and received nothing constructive. Boys, I have owned many a truck. So, don’t need this BS. How about real constructive comments. MTG

    Trade it on a 2024?

Folks have been calling this 3.5 and 6 speed combo a dog since it came out in 2016. Assuming I am interpreting what you mean correctly in it lacking any guts down low like a truck should have.

How about a real definition of the problem

'runs good' and 'dog' seem inconsistent.

Has it been this way since new or has something changed?

Did you not test drive it? The truck is not known for its amazing drivetrain that’s not why people buy them or own them. Sorry but this is an all to familiar post for many of us here, hence the responses.

I have 33s with a tune. I think it has plenty of power. It is all subjective.

It starts and runs good while idling. Runs good on level roads. Ad the slightest terrain change and it hunts gears unloaded. This 3.5L should have some low end torque. Should not be slow from a standing stop. Yet, at times I literally have to flat out stomp the pedal to get it to move. Perhaps I am expecting too much from a V6. I have a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder, 4x4, 3.3L V6 with nearly 180,000 miles on the odometer that can run circles around my ‘23 Tacoma. I traded a ‘17 Nissan Cummins Titan that was a POS for this Taco. Troubles with the Titan, Titanic if you wish, were daily.
Upon first buying my Tacoma it ran great, got good mileage and etc. Now, seems as if it has been detuned. Mileage is diminished. Power questionable. So, does this answer your question? MTG

Learn how to use the skinny pedal. Don’t get scared by the roar the engine makes post 4k rpm.

Could be colder temps, winter gas blend and if you have an Auto, may still be learning how you drive.

I would reach out to some tuners on here and see where someone close may be. You may have to drive but it’s worth it. And I had warranty work on my ecm and they didn’t detect the tune. Of course there is always the risk but I personally have never had a dealer who looked that hard or cared to do so.

Do the tune and report back.
