Is that for the 5080 or 5070ti? I was planning on using the single 12v-2x6 for my 5070ti even though msi has a 3 way splitter in the box. :fingerscrossed::bananadead:

Otherwise I'll have to swap this psu for a corsair with more pcie connections.

They're the same adapter for both cards. It's fine to use the single 12vhpr if your psu has the port. This particular psu isnt ATX 3.1 so it doesn't have it, my other one is and came with the single cable 12vhpr on both ends.

Okay, I need a little help here. Stupid cable question, I've got 3 pcie and 3 sata/peripheral connections on the back of this msi a1000gs psu...

    IMG_0070.jpg

There's two 4+4 EPS cables for the cpu that are plugged into the black ports on the mobo and pcie ports on the psu. (done)

    IMG_0069.jpg

That leaves one pcie port or 3 sata/peripheral ports left for the other end of the mobo (grey plug) and psu with this cable...

    IMG_0067.jpg

    IMG_0071.jpg
The 8 pin side is missing a pin (2 wires go into one port) and the other end has 2 connections. Do I need to connect this and if so where does it go?

I don't plan on utilizing the extra pcie slots (there's no room with the exhaust fans and gpu) and the 5070ti already has its own proprietary 12v-2x6. I was hoping to utilize one of the slots for a sound card, but will likely need to find an external version.

You can't squeeze a mouse fart in there. :notsure:

    IMG_0049.jpg

I think the only other connections to make are the usb case fans and aio cooler. Btw, the RGB arctic 420 cooler arrived from Amazon in new condition tonight.
It makes the 5070ti look small. :p

    4 run, 2 don't
Those PCI-E that have have 'CPU' listed for motherboards that require an additional +8 pin for providing more power.

Some boards its optional, others require it. When two are on the board, it's to help support larger loads and provide more stability.

    Very common.

A bit like being sandwiched in the middle airline seat, but the big girl fits. I do like the lcd display feature on the Kraken though. :notsure:.

Bought Windows 11 Home on usb this evening. GSkill memory arrives Friday.

    To do list:

    1. Run some wires for the two bottom swafans and maybe reuse the two plain 140mm fans on the back of the case; cable management o_O.
    2. Reinstall the 5070ti
    3. Boot up, install Windows & updates, benchmark tests.

Any suggestions for antivirus software? Kaspersky was the ticket long ago. Appears that was shut down in 2024 for reasons we can't mention here. Norton sucked, not sure if it still does.

Windows Defender is good enough these days, no need for additional antivirus as long as you’re using common sense and not doing anything sketchy

I'll second this, I haven't had antivirus in years, maybe a decade at this point.

Bit Defender works well for me. Been using it on a few different PCs, tablets and phones for about 6 years.

GSkill arrived a day early. :bananadance:

I've got everything connected except for one small issue. (The two swafans on the bottom of the case. One above the psu and one under the gpu.) Since they can't be connected back to back with the magnet feature they're daisy chained with 2 separate included cables.

One end is plugged into a fan header (sysfan2), check. The other end requires a 3 pin jargb_v2 port on the mobo, oh fudge.

Problem is the only port available is a 4 pin jrgb1. Is there an adapter cable for this situation? I don't have the ability to tap any of the other 3 pin jargb_v2 ports (3 fans to each port max).

I don't know why the swafans didn't come with controllers. I thought those were included, but I don't know.

Not familiar with those fans or case but many motherboards can control aftermarket fans.

Yes I understand. I just don't have the right connector.

I'm trying to figure out how to connect the jrgb1 4 pin on the mobo to the 3 pin jargb_v2 from these fans.
    IMG_0081.jpg IMG_0082.jpg

I guess I need one of those fan controllers in the video below, (1:00 minute mark) because my mobo is out of available 3 pin jargb-v2 plugs.

The HBA card I bought for my tower server build a little bit back seemed to have died while I was trying to get the HDD’s to work so I returned it on eBay a few weeks back, been dragging my feet ordering another one and finally did on Tuesday, it arrived early today so after I fixed our AC after work (fan motor died yesterday) and then having a late dinner out with the wife I decided I was going to install it and get it running.
Installed the HBA card and the HDD’s still wouldn’t spin up, tried with 2 other PSU’s and one would spin them up and the other wouldn’t, finally after a while of beating my head against the wall I tried ol Chat GPT, and GPT said
So while I was trying to figure out which method I was going to use to disable pin 3 I realized the HDD’s shipped with little adapters, put the SATA-SATA adapters in and they all fired up. I feel like a dang idiot now.
Tomorrow is my late day at work so I probably won’t do much if anything about getting the server setup but all I need to do is verify that the A380 is recognized and setup my storage pool, get plex and the rest of the apps loaded and setup, and I’ll be off to the races. I may take my Poweredge server offline for a little while and focus on getting the mini PC server setup (I want to run frigate NVR on it).

Overall I’ll consider today a success.

Yeah, two styles of RGB.. one is addressable RGB, where you can control each LED individually (the 3 pins, power, ground, data), and the other is standard RGB, where you have power, then a separate channel for red, green, and blue (the 4 pin one) and all of the individual LED's do the same thing. Digital vs analog control, basically. Two different signal types, two different connectors.

So yeah, either need a hub for your last couple fans, or just don't plug in the RGB for them and use them as normal fans.

Also, holy fans batman. Am I counting 11? Left to right flow, and top to bottom flow?

That makes more sense. Thank you. Yeah, a lot of fans, 11. I was going to put the 2 plain black 140mm fans on the back of the case, but I might just swap them with the 2 bottom 120mm fans. I said wasn't into the whole rgb circus thing and of course I've built it with almost every component rgb. :jpow:

I still need to pick up a monitor and I don't have an hdmi cable otherwise I'd plug it into the TV tonight. I will say these Thermaltake swafans are very temperamental. The slightest bump and they stop working or if they're not lined up just perfect only one works, ect.

But here ya go for now...

Hopefully I can find some more time to play around with everything soon. My pool table is being moved this weekend and I'm getting ready to fly out of state to house hunt again. So, back in the box it goes for a short while.:(

Thanks everyone for the tips and instructions. Also, thanks again to @PhoS for selling the GPU. :fistbump:

Regarding fan flow, all the Thermaltake fans are reverse/pull. The aio is set to whatever factory setting is. I might need to play around with the fans to get the optimal push/pull for temps.

I was always told not to push air into another fan. As in, don't push more air into a confined space like a radiator than the fans on the opposite side can remove. Not sure if thats right or not, but I've always ran my intake fans on radiators a little slower than the outtakes without any issues. It probably doesn't actually matter much until you supply so much air that you get compression and the potential for electrical shinnigans if the fans end up not drawing as much power as the board is supplying.

Yeah, I've always heard pull through a radiator rather than push into. For the overall case though, I always do more intakes than exhausts to keep a little positive pressure and keep it from sucking dust in through cracks and crevices.

I think I'm at 6 in my case? 2x 140 in the front, 2x140 in the top, 2x120 on my cpu cooler. And, they're actually all intakes. Rear and side panels are pure mesh (Fractal North mesh), temps are great in it. My CPU cooler basically acts as an exhaust fan towards the rear with the top, GPU, and front feeding into it.
