Has anyone had trouble with power tailgate. Mines started giving me warning light in the dash that its offline once in a while driving and then noticed that it dont open when pressed. Now this is happening more often and the bad thing is the car alarm goes off when the tail gate goes offline. If you had this issue, what did they do to fix it?

Do you have your cap yet? My Smartcap theoretically should work with our tailgates, but the rubber seal on the rear window provides just enough resistance to stop full closure. There are two stages to fully closing and locking. If it isn't fully closed and locked, you will get the warning and the tailgate won't open next time around. I have learned to provide the adequate assistance necessary to get it to stage two. It is a skill unnecessarily learned born out of annoyance. I have expressed my unhappiness in a survey to Toyota. The only thing that keeps it being the perfect vehicle for me.

The false alarms should disappear once you figure out how to get it to lock fully. The alarms seem random.

No problems with mine. And I just had an AluCab canopy installed. It’s a tight fit, but the installers did a great job trimming the foam rubber between the canopy and bed caps.

Go back to your Leer dealer if they can see why it won't reach stage two, the fully locked position. Something shifted.
