2025 Tacoma SR (I am poor lol). I can never tell if I am about to touch the huge parking lot poles or if I am 3' away from them and need to pull up more.

I end up parking right up against the pole or bumping it and luckily I have no dents, or I am 3' back from it and have to pull up some more.

I have found some great looking options, but they all seem to use a back-up camera but you can add a second camera for the front. I already have a back-up camera.

I am wondering if you can simply just put the single camera in the front and have a front facing camera.

Here is a possible kit, and I hope that one can just mount the one camera up front and be good to go.

TYPE S Solar-Powered Wireless Backup Camera, Adjustable Lens, 6.8” Touch Screen LCD, Night Vision, License Plate Camera, Universal Compatibility for Cars, Trucks, RVs (Upgraded Version) - Walmart.com

    I like this one:

    https://youtu.be/ikAjdrkA9nw?si=gebbqYDDea6kWvA1

Worst case scenario I might just get the parking sensor with green lights starting at like 6' away, then turning to yellow at 3' and then red at 1' or whatever.

    Thank you for any advice.

Anytime cameras seem to not work for 2025 models, and I saw one of them (I forget which business is working on making a kit for the 4th gen Tacos.

I suppose I could set up something like a cardboard tube that will not damage my plastic on the front and just pull up to it until I barely touch it 1000 times and try to get the image to stick in my brain.

Why don't you just back the truck in. It's much easier, especially when there are cars on both sides. It's also easier just driving out in busy parking lots. I back in 99% of the time.

3-4 inches away would bother me at all. That’s not going to make that much difference sticking out in the isle.

I’ve also been wanting to add the front as well as the two side cameras in order to get the bird’s eye view, my wife’s suv has it and it’s extremely handy for backing into tight spaces. From my understanding (with little research or physically poking around my truck) all the wiring is already in place cause the factory only uses a single harness. I’ve been looking into swapping out OEM parts to add the OEM cameras. I’m pretty sure the programming is different but might be able to find a tuner that can turn on the 3D terrain mapping or Birds Eye view.

I back in every chance i get, like you said, it's easier and i feel it's safer when driving away. Less chance of hitting something or someone.

    That got me laughing!

I emailed them a few months ago. They said that there is a problem acquiring connectors for the 2022+ Tundras and 2024+ Tacoma’s. They were hopeful mid to late 2025?

I'm in the back-in club. Every vehicle, from Miata to F350. Always back in to a perpendicular.

One, it's easier. Your steering axle is last in/first out. Which means it's able to freely swing in the aisle instead of the narrow confines of a parking bay.

Second, it's easier to see cross traffic when your pie-hole is facing traffic, instead of your exhaust hole.

I haven't been backing into parking spaces, but I probably should be. I do back into my driveway, though.

I had a similar discussion with my live-in mother-in-law the other day. I had noticed while clearing the driveway for the fourth time this week — we're up to about 3' of snow here now — that there was a spot in the drift off to the side of the driveway where it looked like someone had driven into it and gotten stuck. The tire marks lead straight to where she parks her car. My wife asked about it when she got home and my MIL explained how she had left at 5AM and gotten stuck for half an hour. The actual driveway was clear enough for her to get out with no drama. The snow drift she backed into is approaching 5' tall now.

I told her the reason I back down into the driveway is because it's safer and easier to pull forward onto the road, never mind that backing into a roadway technically is illegal. "I'm not very good at backing up. It's too hard to back into the driveway," she says. I maintained that if I can back the Tacoma down up the driveway, she can back up a small Subaru hatchback (with a backup camera!). She didn't have much to say when I pointed out that she's gotta back out if she pulls in and if she can hit a snow drift on the way, what's to stop her from heading down the six foot drop to the field past the shoulder when she misses the road? I just got a face.

I should probably learn to not argue with my mother-in-law.

    1. Buy a very large squeaky toy.

    2. Attach it to your front bumper.

    3. Drive into your garage and don't stop until you hear a loud squeak.

    4. When you hear the load squeak, stop.

    5. Reply to this thread when you have accomplished steps 1 through 5 for further instruction.
