I have seen RTT discussions but find nothing about tents that fit in the bed of the truck. What do

I am wondering if these tents are pretty good for camping in, or mainly having for a short trip and being able to pop in somewhere camping is allowed and getting some rest without the expense of a hotel room.

Amazon.com : Tacoma truck bed tents

My ultimate goal would be a very small travel trailer, but that is a long ways away.

But my second ultimate goal is something like the Tuska hitchhiker in the bed or on my small 5' x 8' trailer.

    HitchHiker™ Camper – Tusca Outdoors

I have had more than enough of on the ground camping in the military, and for sleeping being the most important consideration to me, safety, shelter, comfort something tiny is great.

There are pop-up canopies, bathroom/shower pop-up privacy tents (tall and skinny), and tables, a kitchen set-up, social/sitting area and so much more can go under canopies.

With that hitchhiker in the truck and a generator and canopies for everything mentioned above I'd be set for life, but until then a truck bed tent might fit the bill just fine.

But for just almost anything, even becoming homeless that Hitchhiker from Tusca in the bed would be great. One could sleep in it almost anywhere, and use their gym membership, truck stops, or almost anywhere for restroom usage and such.

As for camping spots, since covid, a huge lake about 20 minutes from me has waived any camping fees at one of their camping sites that has bathrooms, hot water showers, fishing spots, and a swimming area, and a playground. It is almost deserted during the week year round, but busy on the week ends, and can be camped at (For free) for 2 weeks.

    Thank you.

Completely Rhino lined, camper shell, hitch, grill guard, custom wheels. Working on a slide out bed for camping while out hunting.
That Tusca hitchhiker is interesting but if it’s not secured like a cap there may be issues. My Tacoma has an ARE cap that works well but I’m about to sell that truck as I bought a new f 150

I'd find a way to secure it (locking it) in place to the truck so no one could just cut the chain or loosen turnbuckles and steal it.

The option to mount it permanently or semipermanently to trailer floors is some plates that go on the floor inside the Hitchhiker and it is bolted through them to the trailer, one could do the same thing to have it more secure in the bed of a truck.

Tusca looks interesting. Buy once, cry once and the ability to transfer it to a trailer is a nice feature.
