Greetings. New Celestial Silver TH w. 6’ bed owner here. Picked it up yesterday in SE Louisiana.

Waited almost 6-mos for delivery. Love the truck, except for the very annoying (IMO) snorkel noise - with the windows up!

I’m hoping a creative person will come up with an easy solution to eliminate this sound.

I figure the majority of Hybrid/Turbo’d Tacos do not have a snorkel, so hopefully there’s an easy way to eliminate it on my truck.

FYI: I enjoy all turbo sounds 1 would ever want with my 930…

I popped the hood and looked at the air box. I found this rubber cover on the bottom. Easily removed. Thinking the engine will now take most of its air through here.

The filter will still work perfectly.

    What do u all think??

Removing that rubber plug defeats the snorkel.
Hell with the truck, I want more pics of the 930.

While I live in a flood prone area; I figure I can just pop the rubber plug back on if the water gets over 3-feet!!!

Yes. Drove to the Tail a couple summers ago. About 12-cars from New Orleans n Back. Was a blast!

There's a hood swap thread for folks who wanted scoops and those who didn't (3rd gen)

Maybe start a fender/hardware swapping thread for those who think snorkels rock and those who don't.

Do anyone know the published maximum depth of water fording on the 4th gen?

Just remember it's a "high mount intake" not a snorkel and is NOT for water crossing.

    Beautiful 930.

So it’s for decoration? Other than a water event, I fail to see the the point of it….I’m missing something.

It's for getting cleaner air on dusty, dirty trails.
(Personally I think it's a gimmick that probably won't benefit 99% of people who buy it and it would be nice if they let you delete the option, much like the seats in the Pro.)

Most importantly, you chose wisely by opting for TH instead of the Pro…congratulations on a great truck.

However, unlike that slant nose, which is 100% steak, that “snorkel” is 100% whistling sizzle…

These guys are yanking your chain. You can definitely ford rivers right up to the height of your snorkel entry. Have the camera ready and post the pics when you do.

I'm 100 percent with you. The whistle is irritating, and I suspect some of it is caused by the design of the inlet vents on the snorkel itself. I have other projects, but it will be interesting to see if someone else decides to do a little work on this. I have no problems with the raised inlet, but hope someone gets a prefilter figured out for it.

My small mod was able to eliminate about 1/2 of the whistle… Much more bearable, now.

But I’d prefer having zero added noise. I agree with the previous post - that the slits are adding to the ‘drama’. Hopefully someone smarter than me will successfully mod that inlet.

It's to suck in air higher up where there isn't as much dust and dirt when taco bros are off roadin-

    Yeah pretty much decorative

Can you clarify what the "noise" is that you're referring to?
When I read the word whistle, it makes me think that there's audible sound created based on wind - meaning that if you're coasting down a hill, you're got some sound from the intake.
If you're referring to the turbo spooling, BOV or wastegate, then you're pretty much limited to restricting the sound from entering the intake from WITHIN the system. So, you're options really only fall within the airbox and the air filter under the hood as sound is reverberating up the high mount intake.

Would it be possible to install a standard Tacoma air filter box? Just leave the external snorkel on the truck? That'd end the noise
