60+ year old thread.

We have water!!! Broken male PVC connection at the meter. The city guys came by and said it wasn't as big a leak as said before. 54K gallons instead of 100K. The pipe was almost 6 feet down, usually 3, max of 4.

They patched the pipe and didn't bed the excavation with sand, instead using the existing clay and not tamping it at all as they filled. I mentioned bedding the pipe in sand and tamping but they blew it off.

So it appears we are good to go, at least until the dirt settles.

Think I'll take a shower...

Good morning. Off to a PT session early today then on to the gym for some cardio. Prepped a rack of ribs last night for the smoker today. I should have them in the smoker by 10:30 this morning. My squirrel proof bird feeder, if there is such a thing, was missing the bird perch and was nowhere to be found. I think it might have been carried away by an animal. Had to cut and affix a wooden dowl to the feeder as a temporary perch. I might need to fabricate a new platform if the birds cannot use the dowel. I am betting the birds will have no problem accessing the food. I might need to adjust the swing arm to allow a woodpecker to use the bird feeder.

Been babysitting the grandboys while the DIL is in the hospital - she hurt her back and had surgery yesterday. Quick surgery and she's supposed to be feeling much better (according to the surgeon)

Those roof loads always concerned me - especially when I'd have a job that kept me away for two weeks at a whack. Made me jealous of the places with a steep roof pitch and the slick raised edge steel roofs.

 

sixtys/wannabes/snow lovers. Our antique cat, Mr. Gray, caught a flying squirrel this morning. He was absolutely beside himself with joy. It's been a couple of years since he's caught anything. And those buggers are tough to catch!

Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Just sitting in the sunroom, and enjoying the passing showers with Rex the Dog. We have 1.3" so far, and radar says I have a few more hours to go. Works for me! Got one Dr. Appointment confirmed so far, going to set up the RAV4 for service and do nothing.

Mr. Snowy looks a lot like you Mike. I think it's the hat.

Glad you got it taken care of. I hate water problems. With electrical stuff you get a tripped breaker. With water, you often find the problem after the damage. There is no breaker for run-away leaks and busted pipes.

I finally got the registration taken care of. Whew.

Next, get the CRV "low tire pressure light" taken care of. 2021 Honda with a bad sensor. All four tires measure 31 PSI but get a low-pressure light—good excuse to buy another pressure gauge. I like the ARB style as "press to inflate, and button to deflate is easy to use; arthritis in my thumbs creates havic with little buttons.

I know the Honda dealer will give me the "just needed a little air excuse for tire pressures" I only wish the dash would display the pressure of each tire so I know what sensor is bad. Hmm, maybe I need a good excuse for a fancy scan tool.

A friend of mine is living in Argentina. I'm thinking of what to do once I retire; hmm, driving to Argentina would be an adventure (ya, there is a ferry crossing needed).
