I use this controller along with a 30Watt Solar Panel to keep the motor battery charged while my motor home is in summer storage. So far (after a month of use) the panel and controller are working perfectly. I was skeptical as to whether this device was any good since the price is so low but to my surprise, it is working as good as the more expensive models. Maybe it won't last as long but at the price - who cares. I'll simply order another one if this one goes out. I recommend it highly.

I own two of these controllers. Been using the one for well over five years. No issues! These work perfectly fine and do the job. Those with negative reviews CLEARLY didn’t read the instructions or simply aren’t familiar with solar controllers and proper solar hookups. YOU HAVE TO CONNECT THE BATTERY FIRST, before you connect the solar panels to it. You will damage the solar panels and controller if you do this out of order. This is true of all solar controllers... cheap or expensive ones.

This controller works beautifully if you follow the instructions for how to make the connections. ENJOY!

One (big?) drawback for the low price is that the instructions say it gets damaged if not already powered by the battery, at the instant the PV array is connected... Not specified what will happen later when the battery happens to get disconnected for whatever reason...

The box I received is marked "10A" but no check on the voltage. The "User Manual" specs say:"voltage of stop charging 7.2 14.4 28.8".... No idea if that means true PWM or just "on/off" regulation? For what I can decipher the load low voltage cut off is 10.8-off/12.6-resume.

I opened the case at the 2 screws: all 3 positives internally jumpered solid; all control is in the negatives; 3 FETs CMP3205, THREE tiny pots, 'lytics at 35 and 50VDC, and 2 chips: da ol LM324 and a CD40106. Obviously T3 controls the load in the LVCO fashion, but can't see how T2 and T1 seem to be in series between Bat and PV... No time to power it up.

Nice PCB...

Loved this little guy after setting up my panels with computer fans on the load, for my rabbit hutch outside. Worked AWESOMe. Unfortunately, 4 weeks later, and possibly coinciding with recent rain, it stopped charging my battery. It stayed perfectly dry, out of the weather, but it is the only coincidence I can imagine, because soon after it just blinked the “battery charge” indicator until it drained it to 5v, then stopped blinking a day later and completely died. Customer service was good, refunded, but I will be looking for a different model for my purposes.

Hard to find a small solar controller that will work with two or more panels and give full current from both. I like the screw clamp lugs

I've ordered three of these, two for the trucks and one for the boat. The two for the truck are paired with the Schumacher SP-200 2.4W Solar panel. I found that without one of these, the batteries would reverse charge over night, enough that the voltage was actually slowly going down each day if I didn't unplug them after the sun went down.

The third unit is paired with the 10 watt panel from Eco-Worthy to maintain a couple of marine batteries wired in parallel.

Finally, on one of the truck installations, I used the "load connection" to power my backup camera monitor. When I need to use it, I just plug in the controller to my cigarette lighter. When used in this manner, make sure the solar panel is disconnected. To be safe, I never have this or the solar panel plugged in when starting the truck, I'm worried any kind of voltage surge will fry this and/or the panel.

For a couple dollars more, I'd be tempted to go with a unit that has an LCD display for better feedback, but that might just be more cheap electronics that could fail. For what I need it to do, it's a good fit.

I ordered this solar charge controller nearly a month ago, but was too busy to set up my solar panel and battery until just yesterday (using this controller to charge a single 12V/8AH 'gel-cell' battery), and it operated for - oh - roughly 30 minutes and then failed. Never saw an indication of 'charging' from the LED indication when I checked it late in the day, so I got out my meter and started checking things and found no charging current was measurable to the battery. Then in trying to measure either amperage or 'load voltage' from the solar panel there was, in essence, a virtual "open circuit" from the small solar panel that's rated at just 10 watts (12V/0.58A). The solar panel I'd ordered from Amazon as well, and has an operating voltage of approx.17 volts and an 'open circuit' voltage rated at 21 volts, which was roughly what I measured at the controller input, so apparently nothing was actually getting thru the charge controller, and the battery was about 40% discharged at that time ("pushing" a small 12 volt 'evac fan' in my RV). The solar panel is definitely fully functional, so obviously the input side just 'died'... Disappointed, but at least it happened within the time I could return to Amazon with no problems. I think I'll try another manufacturer this time...
