I’ve been chased around and almost bitten by loose dogs in the neighborhood. I didn’t know I would use it so soon but it does work. When I was passing through a new area two dogs came at me and chased and barked at me. I didn’t really want to spray them so I shouted “No!” and “Stop!” but that had no effect. I kept on pedaling but they wouldn’t leave me, so I resorted to use the can and it worked almost immediately.

I was issued this product the first time through work. Had to use it when a dog tried to attack me and it worked with just a tiny squirt. He came back for a second squirt within about 2 minutes so it’s best for giving you time to escape. It made me a believer though. I used it when I was delivering packages a few times too. I now drive a semi and bring my dog with me. I noticed some drivers are overconfident in their voice control and have their dogs off leash at truck stops so I started carrying it again. Today it saved my dog and maybe me too. Three fully grown bullies were tethered together and coming for us h#ll for leather. I had bullies before so I knew it wasn’t to play. Their owner was running behind them but too far away. I pulled this spray off my lanyard and sprayed the lead dog full in the face. He kept coming so I hit him again from the side as he lunged to bite my dog. He veered off then the second and third ones came in and I sprayed them too. I was praying it would work because I know how determined bullies can be. All three were kind of dazed and their owner arrived to grab their tether. The lead dog who got the most direct spray was rubbing his face in the grass. I explained to him it was just pepper spray and we got the heck out of there. I’m so thankful I had the spray with me! My poor Ella is not a fighter and would have been seriously injured or killed by three dogs attacking her. Get this spray and carry it with you every single time you’re out walking. You never know what might happen

this is one of those products that is hard to rate, because I have never HAD TO USE IT. But that's the point. Murphy's law: if you don't have it, you need it. But this product has been around for what, over 40 years? It's just pepper spray, but great peace of mind. It's small, light, and simple. I clip it to my waistband in the back of my shorts on long power walks, and it's so light, I forget it's there.

I was a cop in the late 60's and we were several years away from being issued "Mace" let alone Pepper Spray. I remember seeing the Postman walking his route with this very bottle of Halt on his belt. Why it took the Law Enforcement community so long to discover that this stuff works on people I don't know. Up to that point we only had our fists, night sticks, slappers and saps to give ourselves an advantage in a disputed arrest!! Later, I found out just how much easier "Mace" made the job. Later, Pepper Spray came along and it really changed the game. It worked equally as well on people, dogs and bears. That stuff saved the life of many a Bear up at Lake Tahoe. O.K., enough history. Being retired I find Halt easier to obtain and much less expensive than Pepper spray.

I have a part time delivery job and have had a few run ins with dogs (one chased me down the block, I think it chewed thru its leash and was roaming around the owners yard, it was scary!), so I decided to get this product just in case.
I hope I never have to use it...
I tested it out in the park to see how it works. The one gripe I have is the spray does not seem very strong. The product states its good up to ten feet, but the spray is not very strong so that would probably not be very effective. Again, I have not had to use it on a dog (hope I never have to) so its hard to say. It seems potent and the spray works, but its not real powerful.

I got this for my delivery job. I go to a lot of rural areas with loose dogs.
I try to be cautious and i dont have to deliver anything if I feel unsafe, but I had two really close calls...one dog came under its fence and rushed at me snarling...the other was huge and came out of nowhere(maybe from under the house or porch), also rushed at me snarling. A quick spray and both stopped immediately and went back.
I love dogs and honestly beat myself up having to use it but it works, didn't seem like either dog was in a lot of pain or anything and could've been a lot worse had I been bitten out in the middle of nowhere.
Definitely recommend carrying. Better safe than sorry.
