About Us

WIX Filters was founded in an old cotton mill in Gastonia by Jack Wicks and his business partner, Paul Crenshaw, who needed an inexhaustible supply of pure white cotton thread waste for the filtering media of their new company. At the time, Gastonia and Gaston County produced more combed cotton yarn. Our focus today is the same as it was when we were founded in 1939 – to provide high quality filters designed to exceed their performance demands.     Purchased this filter for my sons 2003 Miata. Opened the package to find this filter. FOR SURE not a WIX filter, instead it’s an off brand, stuck in a chinsey box, with a WIX sticker placed over the top of the one that was there previously. I guess you get what you pay for. Lesson learned.

    What a nightmare to install!!!! No fault of the filter, WIX makes EXCELLENT filters. Fault of Mazda! Only way to get to this thing is from directly under it, the lines are plastic and have couplings that must be lined up PERFECTLY straight to connect And you can BARELY reach the top fitting with the TIPS of your fingers. All the while, because your directly under the fuel tank, it is pouring gas out from gravity feed all over you. Buy the filter and take it someplace to get installed! What a nightmare this thing was! NOTE: Gasoline chemically burns your skin BAD and it takes a good week to heal.

    The media could not be loaded.
     Bought this for my dad and his 1999 Miata. He said that when he turned the engine on after install, there was a loud champagne cork pop, and the fuel filter began to leak. Since it's been a few months since I bought the filter, I'll be trying to get a refund from Wix themselves. May add a star later if the warranty process isn't too arduous.

    If you plan to purchase this filter, make sure to use within a month so you can have an easy return to Amazon if it does leak. Quite a few other reviews seem to mention leaks.

    I installed on a 99 miata and read suggestions to not reuse old clips and purchase new. The ones i got were terrible and i ended up using the old ones anyways. You're likely to get a gas bath when you change these out, so heads up on that.

    Please do not buy this item unless u love torture. Installed Fuel filter and it leaked fuel from where the support bracket is attached to filter. So had to reinstall old filter until I can get a new one from local auto parts store. Check other reviews many have had the same problem. It's even doubtful that this is a "real" Wix filter as Wix is usually very high quality.
