I need to replace the exhaust again. If any of you bought a complete system for an ext cab with 2.7 that bolted right up to the cat, hung properly, without headaches please let me know exactly what you bought. And please verify the length of the cat flange to flange or take some pictures, I know, it's a pain but I'd really appreciate it. Thank you

Mbrp stainless before the axle dump. Sounds great 2/300$ easy install. Lighter weight, and looks better than seeing the exhaust behind…

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Never a 2.7 but I have been using Walker Exhaust for years with no issues.

i have learned a very valuable lesson mixing exhaust system manufactures in my case is very frustrating .

parts seem to only fit within the manufactures products.

Not major differences but enough to be very interesting only in the length of different parts,

I'm also interested in this. I'm thinking about getting the aFe rock basher exhaust, but I don't see very many reviews on it. Worried it might sound loud/annoying.

    As far as fitment goes....

Boy you got that right....every company's flanges seem to a little different....
just enough so you don't get a good seal....

I went and bought the mid pipe and tail/muffler from walker because it had the hangers in the right place for a Dlx extended cab...
....advance has the 20 off coupons....
    cat from JC whitney....

took all to a muffler shop and they cut the flanges off and hard welded everything....
except for the tack where the mid pipe goes into the muffler....
they charged me $100.....took 15 minutes.....

That tack is how the water drains.....

I was looking at the AFE exhaust, it's reasonably priced but I want to BE CERTAIN it will bolt up to the cat and the intermediate pipe is the proper length. I don't want that pipe to arrive too short and have to screw with it like I've had to do in the past. I have a welder but the system is stainless, I ain't buying SS wire and changing gas to make it work. You guys know what I mean. AFE has been ZERO help. I asked them (even EBay sellers of it) to simply lay it all out on the floor and give me a overall length flange to center of tailpipe. Nobody can be bothered. For 700 bucks you'd think they would

Oh yeah, they suck, the pipes normally extend too far out of the flanges, the flanges are marshmallow soft so when you attempt to tighten it up the ears bend, they are rarely the right length, have to lengthen, hangers "just don't line up, pathetic

Here is the solution.....I replaced the MBRP muffler on the down turn system with a Magnaflow 12246 muffler and it sounds awesome. I hated the loud sound of the MBRP dump pipe system. The Magnaflow muffler quieted it down, and got rid of the annoying drone. The MF muffler is 1 or 2 inches shorter than the MBRP muffler, but the rear hanger can be slid floward slightly to make up for the difference in length.
All I needed to do was grind 2 notches on the inlet and outlet tubes so that it can be clamped using the MBRP clamps. The MF muffler is made for a weld on application, but notching the inlet and outlet allows for a slip fit, with clamps.

Nice! I’ll take a look at that. Much appreciated. I even have a layer of kilmat in the cab, and it’s loud enough to annoy me.

The 3.4 auto sounded different than the 2.7 manual I currently have. The 2.7 is great sounding and more fun to drive and isn’t annoying. On the auto 3.4 it was just ok, and the lag in shifting was what made it lackluster..
But overall its a decent system and some may not like it.

I need to pay attention to this thread. My muffler is on it's last legs. It's holding together, but I can hear the exhaust leaking. I don't want a loud or droning sound. Just a basic OEM style would work great for my use.

A little late to the party but my 20 year old OEM muffler is splitting down the seam and I just can’t bring myself to cough up $600 for a new exhaust. I’m looking at these Walker stainless muffler and intermediate pipe for my 2.7

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000C8ZF6Y/?coliid=I3NF4LKCHCLQJ6&colid=3MSBFOZO44289

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000K03UPC/?coliid=I7DU1ISR20K8B&colid=3MSBFOZO44289

These plus incidentals I should be out the door for about $150. I am a concerned that there’s no hangers between the front of the rear cat and the back of muffler and the stress that may put on the joint where the intermediate pipe enters the muffler which I can address with a universal hanger.

I bought that same exhaust system from advance auto.

They have that 20% coupon for online ordering every so often..

A lot people here have those.

I'm 3 years in with a extended cab, zero problems with hangers or anything...

Did get a little bit of flash rust on the muff's end caps.....so I took some high temp silver and lightly dust it every year or so.
