1st gen ecu for tuning

i am planning on boosting and tuning my 95 3rz-fe. anyone know what plug in or stand alone ecu would be best?

I just bought a haltech for my 3.4 from snpspeed.
Doesn’t get any better than this setup.

What's great about Haltech is you can use it for anything. On the expensive range but you get what you pay for. Many tuners use this when they do swaps. Super clean and fairly user friendly.

I was actually surprised that you can switch back to stock (back and forth) by simply unplugging the 4 ECU harness wires and
replugging them in.
It takes a minute to swap back and forth once setup

He definitely should, it’s a night and day difference for my 3.4,
And is a true fix, not a bainaid solution, but is expensive,

 

I'm going to be running an AEM FIC 6 with a Boomslang harness. I don't need all the tuning features of the Haltech, I simply just need to fix air, timing, and fuel which the FIC excels at.

 

I wanna get if for my stock 3rz because I want to turbo it after getting low comp pistons when rebuilding it because the bores could use a hone so might as well

 

If you go this route you have 100 percent control over every aspect of the ECU,
It is NOT tied into the stock ECU.
The only way to get the most out of your turbo or Supercharger is a stand alone.
The haltech software is amazing in what you can do and is state of the art technology and you have 100 percent support from a live person.
There’s nothing like it, look at the drop down areas you can control.
The software has a data logger so you can see everything that is happening on a graph 3D if you wanted too

I figure if I do anything I may as well get it's full potential vs compromise to make it work

How do check engine lights work?

It would be really neat if they made one for the 1uz and ls400 power train wire harness I have

The check engine lights come on through the haltech now and you read that fault through the computer and it tells you exactly what it is

 

How about things like the purge valve solenoid I'm guessing it's a configurable option to add or omit

It’s CAN based.
The Haltech CAN Hub is a plug and play product which allows you to expand the functionality of your ECU. It does it by allowing the connection of multiple CAN based expansion devices.

And they make gauges that plug into the haltech too

Got it! YES, it can be tuned in the VE mode.

From why I’ve read The VE model seems like the most effective way to go these days. I’m curious why you didn’t? Are there downsides I may be missing ?
