I've been thinking about changing the color of my silver mist 04 taco..I've painted a few cars in my time and am no way a "professional" but can get it done. A buddy had his first gen. Tundra done in the new Inferno(orange) and it looks AWESOME,he put a ton of $$$$ in his, an looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor.. It's a lot of work changing colors, inner doors, under hood, fender wells an probably bed removal,I was leaning toward either 2018 cavalry Blue, inferno or quick sand.. I got a new frame last yr an it has 178k on the motor but is otherwise in real good shape...Just not sure the "juice is worth the squeeze"... I'd like to hear some others that did this.

I've been letting the sun slowly change the color over the last 15 years. It's free and I literally don't have to do anything, lol.

My texas pinstripes are technically a different color, too.

But seriously, if I were to do anything, I'd wrap it. It opens up a whole new world of looks, patterns, and it isn't permanent. Bad part about going with some outlandish color is that if it ever comes time to sell it, weird, or overly bright colors make that a little harder.

Really comes down to if you wanna put the time and effort into doing correctly. Pull the bed, pull the engine, pull all the trim, lights tabs, fender liners basically Everything that should not have paint on it, then sand and prep for what will seem like forever, then paint, color sand to perfection, then clear and wet sand again till perfect then polish. Oh then you still have to put all back together with fucking up all your hard work. Good luck thought if you take it on and post pics of the journey.

I’m on the middle of a color swap on my 01 double cab. I’m taking it weekend by weekend for now. Going from imperial jade to cavalry blue.

I'd describe it more as "puke green". I'm imagining being handed a color sample
of that - "what, are you crazy?" ... but on the truck, I think it ranks up there with
    Radient Red...

It’s a base/clear combo over epoxy primer and a couple layers of high build primer in places. Cavalry blue. Here’s a pic of the base and clear I’m using. That clear sprays like a dream.

I’d love to go grey. I travel a lot for work and my hood/roof are starting to be more white than black.

Wow jonesbt r u taking it completely apart or was it time for a fender replacement? I too thought that was ugly as hell when I first saw it but the more I see it the better I like it (Calvary blue).. Still contemplating if I wanna take this on , if I do I’m sure I’ll post some threads..I kinda feel with the grey interior I could probably go with about any Toyota color, I thought about that cement grey,I had our parts store mix some base coat in rustoleum smoke grey an did a old F150 an I painted inner doors, under hood an inner fenders with rustoleum spray cans an it turned out pretty good

I’d like to do mine in BMW black. I believe it’s the deepest black you can get. Toyota Black sand pearl sucks. It’s milky and the metallic make it look dirty even when it’s clean.

I took a lot of parts off for the ease of working on them. Hood, fenders, grill, bumper, bed, doors, mirrors, flares. They’re all easier to wash/sand/paint/etc when off of the truck. As simple as our trucks are, all of these parts are incredibly easy to remove.

Cavalry blue was a super weird color to me at first. I wanted something different. Cement was my first choice too but I have a tan interior so it wouldn’t work. I ran across a new forerunner in cavalry blue with lots of black trim and it was sexy. Going to see if I can replicate the its sex appeal.

Just ordered the U-Pol raptor polyurethane kit off of Amazon. Going to tint it to quicksand and paint it with that.

Thought about wrapping it in Kryptek camo but watched Last Line of Defense YouTube on his wrap and he ripped it pretty much first time it went out.
