Basically is. I went on a 12 hour trip to King of the Hammers and the only thing that stopped me from trading it in Vegas was this thread and the hope it would make the truck driveable. The tune is great and I dont wanna ditch the truck anymore but I won't be taking it on a trip like that till cruise is sorted out. That trip basically locked in 4th 90% of the time getting 10mpg was almost too much.

So the 61ft and 47hp on page 1 are 87 performance tune? Or am I reading it all wrong?

I think the tests were run with a modified/tweaked version of an 87 or 93 performance tune that isn't available to the public yet, but I'm not exactly sure.

Seems like it will be able to be an 87 tune with further development.

Correct. It was Mat doing some testing for the next update.

Last night Mat said that today was 93 octane testing. It’s in the 1st paragraph of the 87 octane results on page 1.

So what tune should I run here, fully armored truck with e rated skinny 33's. I was thinking the performance 91 octane, but I'm concerned what itll do to the truck if I can't get 91 octane gas. Can you use 87 octane gas with the 91 octane tune if you have to, or will it lead to detonation and retarded timing, or damage? I'm in Colorado currently and I only see 85 and 91 octane gas at our local costco. What sort of HP and torque increase do you see with the 87 octane tune? Looking to gain some fuel economy and power, I wouldn't mind paying for 91 octane gas if it really makes that big of a difference.

You will always be able to find premium as 91 in the Rockies as you get lower altitude its mid grade. With the weight you could easily benefit with the 91 performance. It made a world of difference on my 33s and little extra weight. If you are worried about the not being able to find 91 carry some octane booster just in case. Apparently Mat is releasing a improved 87 tune in the future you can go that route too when it releases.
Or try them all. Only takes a min to flash them

Once the tunes are downloaded, I dont need a internet connection right? I'll be keeping this cheap ass windows tablet behind my seat, hopefully loaded with tunes. Sorry for the new guy questions, currently waiting for my license to get approved.

You can start with 87 and see what you think. You can always switch to 91 later or run 91 on the 87 tune. Or you can run the 91 tune and hope to always find 91 or that your laptop is charged.

Correct no internet needed after download but you will need it if one is updated and want to download.

I had the same question so I threw some 87 in on my 91 tune today. ( I'm at 4500 feet so I also wanted to test the theory of the altitude compensating for the difference in octane.) SO I monitor my Knock Correction Learned Value and Knock Feed Back Value via obdfusion. Normally on 91 octane my KCLV is 27 to 29 deg ish and the KFBV is normally -3 deg ( this is instant knock correction and the KCLV is long term correction.) Once the 87 was in (low fuel light was on) slowly that KCLV came down a couple points to the 23-26 range and hung out there.

My understanding of KCLV is that the ECU adds timing till knock is detected then backs off slightly. When you clear engine learning values it sets the KCLV at 17. So my truck added about 10* of timing with 91 octane and went to 6* of timing with the 87. So if 87 is all you can find it wont hurt anything but it's clearly not ideal and you're not getting all the benefit of the tune. The guys on the Lexus racing forums say anything over 20* of KCLV is good.

And before you guys jump on me I went to the 87 tune after testing this theory so I'm on the right octane. @OVTune can you check my understanding of these values and educate me if I'm erroneous.

How do you clear fuel trims in tech stream?

The trans and engine both have a utility screen. Double click each from the main menu then click utility on the left side. They say clear learned values. Pretty easy to find once you get used to techstream layout

That’s funny I’m nearly the opposite. My truck is a 2016 and I’ve used CC 3-5 times

I actually thought I would hate the adaptive cruise. Turns out I love it. If it would shift right Salt Lake traffic would be so much easier to handle.

Can you clear the information in the new flash manager? Or is Techstream the only way to clear the values?
