What is everyone paying for camper shells?

I live in So Cal and there are tons of shell dealerships around but they all seem ridiculously over priced. What did you guys pay out the door? taxes and everything included...

I think I was the Leer 100XQ because of the sleek design + the side windows can open in a way that keeps the rain out if you are sleeping in the shell with bad weather. I know this is one of the most expensive models for our truck, but I still feel the price is very high. Below are some quotes I got for a few different models. Fyi ....CA sales tax is 7.75%

Leer 100XQ _ + Tracks = $2,756 out the door after taxes.
Leer 100XR _ + Tracks = $2,560 out the door after taxes.
ARE V series _ + Tracks = $1,862 out the door after taxes.
ARE Z series _ + Tracks = $2,584 out the door after taxes.

 

I got the Leer 100XR. Tracks, carpet, sliding removable front window, keyless auto lock/unlock, LED lights, quick disconnect harness, installed. $1900 after tax. Located in Virginia.

Do you recall the name of the place? I don't mind driving for a better deal.

 

Thought about trying to locate a used one. But, decided not to put a used cap on my brand new vehicle. Just spent $38K, why try and skimp on a cap.

 

I look every single day a few times a day and in different cities haha, nobody is selling a long bed camper shell for a 3rd gen yet. I saw a red one but with the cost to re paint it , wasn't worth buying.

I got a very low-optioned ARE Overlander for $1825 OTD.

 

You may be able to have it shipped from LEER to a freight handler or your house. Call TAPS and find out. They were very nice to deal with and answered all my questions promptly.

I called 4 dealers within a 2 hour radius and they were the least expensive of them all.

 

I think my no-frills leer (sliding side windows, lights, quick-detach, with the heavy duty frame) was like $1900.

 

Have any pictures of that one? the ones I found online did not show much detail.

Dud that setup is amazing! Exactly what I am planning on doing. I am glad to see others paying what I am about to lol Felt Like I was getting ripped off since I bought a used snugtop for my 2nd gen for $700.

 

its expensive, but I dont regret 1 dollar of it. check out my build, i added a few things to shell to make it even better
