Today I received my new MB TKO 17 x 8.5 inch wheels with a 18 off set mounted on Hankook 245/65r17 all terain tires. My truck is still all stock the only thing was I had to remove those good for nothing boxes from the wheel well! What do you think?PhotoGrid_1470674002209.jpg PhotoGrid_1470674002209.jpg

    Did it affect your power?

No it did not affect my power. There was no noticeable difference in performance for me.

Thanks I think it looks great. I am curious about what boxes you had to take off. I have driven these trucks for years but I am just now thinking about new wheels and tires. I am at stock everything on 5 lug extended cab sr5 and want to understand any problems that I may create

They look like this and they are in the wheel well underneath the plastic. you have to trim the plastic and take out three bolts and the come off. I believe they are there for a mud flap delete for trucks that did not come with mud flaps in the front.

Find it hard to believe you didn't feel a power difference... I have 5 lug and I noticed with 245/55/18 setup...and my setup is 0.5lb over stock tire weight. Your all terrain tires and wheels are probably much heavier.

I also saw a 2MPH drop. I regeared to 3.73 though...so I"m sure the combination of regear and wider tires did not help.

Stock is 26.85" and your setup is 29.54"... that's more than 2.5" difference... how can you not tell a difference being heavier setup and 2.5"+ difference in diameter? Looks nice though.

Yes I thought It would slow the truck down when I originally got them as well and was prepared to regear if needed but it handles the wheels well and still gets up to 70 mph on the highway just fine. I noticed that my new wheels did feel pretty light maybe being aluminum helped save on weight and being a regular cab and not weighing a lot to begin with.

Do you have automatic or manual tranny? You may not notice if you have 3.58" gears for auto. Best if you can weight one tire/wheel and find out. Stock wheel is 25lbs and tire is 23 lbs. I weighed mine at 48.3 lbs... my current ones weighed in at 49.8 lbs. Tirerack shows your tire alone is 34 lbs and wheel is 23.6 lbs for 57.6 lbs over all...that's about 10 lbs rotational mass... surprise you can't feel that difference....and thinking they feel light when they are 10 lbs heavier... that's a big difference for a little 4 cylinder. Did you fix the odometer? Otherwise...think your going faster than the speedometer say 70 mph... you are probably doing 78 mph. Just be aware in case you get tagged for speeding because the speedometer is not adjusted if it's stock.

Glad you like them...they look good... but it will affect performance... I believe you are just not sensitive to the difference.

Yeah you are probably right about me just not noticing. Here in italy they don't have very many police so you can fly pretty much anywhere Thank you for the knowledge though!
