ok heres the deal. i know theres a sticky on this but i think this will get more attention and ill receive a faster reply from you guys

i got a shop that says theyll fix it by lifting the engine, pulling the mount back out, and reenforcing it.

i went to toyota and obviously theres no recall on it and they told me to wait till a toyota rep comes to see the issue. i cant wait 2-3 weeks for that to happen.

i called sdtruck shop and the guy says theyve fixed a few toyotas with similar problems and that the issue is not a factory issue but it wa caused from off-roading...

so i can have it fixed and get it over it, or take this further...

    what do you guys think???

If it was me, I'd get it fixed ASAP. Document the fix and show the Rep in 2-3 weeks. No sense in waiting for them to say "You're out of warranty - It's not our problem- Sorry about your luck"

Judging by the pictures I have seen, it's a fabrication defect. It seems the welding was to "hot" and hardened the joint too much. It appears to be a straight fracture.

BULLSHIT ! Why? Cause it only happens on the 05's. What is the off road on the side of the truck actually mean ? Don't let them try to blame that shit on you. It's a crappy weld and a crappy design. Once happening maybe some fluke but it's happening more than once to all kinds of trucks. All 05's, all the drivers side motor mount.

Looks like Toyota escapes blame again. Typical big business.

They make you wait an absurb amount of time hoping you will just go away and get the issue resolved somewhere else. So far it seems to be working...

If you fix it on your own, why would Toyota bother with the issue...you fixed it.

I would say if at all possible, wait and have Toyota deal with it. IF it ends up being their fault, they should fix it and get you a rental because you know the dealer will take a few days to fix that up. You could even talk to the dealer about getting you a loaner while you wait for the REP to come look at it.

I'm amazed that they have so far managed to escape the blame on this. You people with this problem are not bitching near loud enough. It's been fixed on the 06 so they know there is a problem with the 05's.

Time to own up and make it right. Don't take any crap.

It's a factory defect on the frames built by Dana Corp. It was quietly corrected in 2007.

Toyota won't do squat for you. Have them record that it was an issue and that yours failed, but drop the cash and get it fixed right elsewhere.

User Sar is on here bitching about it too. I told him to get a big sign park out front of the stealership and call the media in for a chat. Normally you don't expect a motor mount to fail taking out the frame in the process. It's a trend and because it seems to be just a poorly done weld it's not consistent. It's not every 05 that has this problem just a run of bad welds. Somebody finally noticed the welds and readjusted the welder. It's bullshit that they don't own up to it. If this was me and this happened to me second day I'd be hiring a lawyer. There is enough people that had this happen to to start a massive class action lawsuit. You guys are not bitching near loud enough. Toyota does not right now need more bad PR. If you can't get some satisfaction out of it now your doomed. I bought a truck cause I need a truck If I can't drive this one give me one in the mean time. They must have a couple of these problems show up a day in the USA and Canada. There making out that they never heard about it before. Still trying to blame the owner.

Media hype. In the end it was the drivers and not the gas pedals that caused the accelerations issues.

Scare people about a non-issue = action by corporate.
Have a real issue that most folks don't care about = no action taken.
