Same as my 05 Tundra.....the front brakes stink....getting a vibration when I need them on the highway.

    You're warping them.

Change your braking habbits, buy Wagner Thermo quiet brake pads, with high quality rotors.

on my euro cars, I've been a big fan of Brembo rotors and Brembo or Akebono pads for preventing the misnamed 'warped rotor' syndrome of badly pulsing brakes. haven't had the taco long enough to have done anything, at 16000 miles, it still has the OE brakes and pads.

Because brakes are a wear item, they wear out. Some faster than others.

Toyota isn't putting brake pads on their trucks that will last 70k miles.

Whether or not you drive like an old man, you have over heated the brake rotors and pads. Nothing will make it better at this point but New pads and Rotors. You could get away with turning the rotors and getting high quality pads, if they're not too over heated.

p.s. in most circles, I'd qualify as 'old man' (ok, I'm 61), but I drive like a maniac :D

At <20k miles? I'm thinking you don't know jack about automobiles. The dealer will make it better with new parts, under warranty.

    Nope, I don't know shit.

In my 10 years of auto mechanics, I've NEVER seen a set of brake pads/rotors wear out early.

Sorry you don't like the answer.

You simply asked what the problem was.

You obviously don't like the answer.

You got bad brakes with the truck, you can keep replacing the shitty OE pads and rotors every 20k miles until your warranty runs out, if that's how you want to spend your time.

Which is why I advised you to buy High Quality aftermarket parts.

I had the same issues as you, went through two sets OEM and got tired of the problems. I went with the EBC stage 4 kit and have been a happy camper so far. For what its worth my aunt has a 2015 and she just had hers at the dealer for this same issue, they turned her rotors and they are better for now but the tech told her he expects she will be back with the same issue. He told her they have had issues with the taco brakes. I'm with the OP I think they are just lousy components to begin with.

I seriously doubt the dealer will replace rotors & pads on warranty, as I think you'll find they are excluded from anything short of a manufacturing defect.

They will turn them if your under warranty, which will solve the problem in the short term.

I've actually been pretty pleased with my Taco's brakes. But I don't drive urban very often. I've got 22K on mine and the brakes are smooth as baby sh!t. And quite effective.

Are you the original owner of your truck? What part of the world do you live and drive in?

I live in the Rockies. You can warp a set of brake rotors/drums on one drive in the mountains if you just ride your brakes all the way down off the mountain while rolling at 75 mph. Engine brake down the long hills. Or if you just plain ride your brakes. Only have your foot on the brake pedal when you are braking.

Not a two-foot driver are you by any chance?

Im at almost 15k on my 2015 and run LT285 70 17s mts and pads are still 3/4 alteast. An I live in the hills of kentucky. My buddy works at akabono who makes the toyota pads along with pads for several other car/truck makers. He says that the toyota breaks are made from the best material and have the highest QA control out of all of them.
